Understanding User Views

Useful information for food banks, donor branches, donor organisations, charity branches, and charity organisations.

The User View is a filter that determines what information a User can see depending on their User Permissions. All Users login to Foodiverse as a particular type of User role. The User View filter is available in the Reports module of the Foodiverse application and will be rolled out to other modules in time.

The User View filter will be set according to your role permissions when you login to Foodiverse.

e.g. If your User Type is Org Admin, the User View filter will default to an Org Admin. If a user changes their default ‘user view’, this selected user view will follow them to other pages of the platform where ‘user view’ needs to be selected.

Impact and KPI reports - what data can they see?

FoodBank & Network Administrator Role

Food Net Admin

  • All charity & donor branches belonging to the FoodBank Org

  • All Donors branches that are members of the Food Net

  • All charities branches that are members of the Food Net

Branch User or Viewer

  • Only donor and charity branches belonging to the Food Bank Org that the user is assigned to

Org Admin

  • All donor and charity branches belonging to the Food Bank Org

Member Manager or Viewer

  • Only donor branches the user is assigned to as ‘Member Manager or Viewer’ within the FoodNet

User Types and User Permissions

What is a Branch User or Viewer?

A Branch User is typically a staff member/volunteer of a Donor or Charity branch. As a Donor Branch User they can Create Donations, Edit branch details, View KPI and Impact Reports for their branch.

Branch Viewer cannot Edit Branch details or Create donations.

What is an Org Admin?

An Org Admin is typically a staff member of a Donor or Charity organisation and is the Org Administrator for that organisation. They can View ALL branches belonging to that organisation.

What is a FoodNet Admin?

A FoodNet admin is typically a staff member of a FoodNet and has Admin rights within that FoodNet. They can View and Edit All branches AND members belonging to the Food Bank and Food Net.

What is a Member Manager/Viewer?

Donor branches, as members of a network, are assigned a Member Manager/Viewer. These Member Manager/Viewer are typically FoodNet staff and they interact with the platform on behalf of the donor branch. The Member Manager can edit schedules, view Manage Donations etc. Charity branches are not assigned specific Member Managers/Viewers. This User View is greyed out on the Charity KPI report and Offers History as a FoodNet Admin.

  • All branches of the Org for which the user is a Branch User and Viewer

    • They cannot edit branch details

    • They can view their impact and KPI data (where relevant) in the reports

    • They can see their donations / offers in the donations or offer history pages

  • All branches of the Org for which the user is a Branch Viewer

    • They cannot edit branch details

    • They can view their impact and KPI data (where relevant) in the reports

    • They can see their donations / offers in the donations or offer pages

  • Labels (formerly tags) shown to the user will be dependent on the user view selected

  • Apply for FoodNets memberships (include sending docs, certs, etc. when FoodNets admin requires more info)

  • Creating donations (Donors only) Branch Users can Create Donations,

  • Branch Viewers cannot Create Donations.

  • Approve/Reject schedule changes (Charities only)

This User Type helps admins to limit what some of their staff can see.

Org Admin

(Donor or Charity)

  • ALL branches belonging to the Organisation (Charities and Donors)

    • All of the Org’s branch details can be viewed and edited by the Org Admin

    • All of the Org’s branch impact and KPI data should be visible in reports

  • Labels (formerly Tags) shown to the user will be dependent on the user view selected

  • Create/edit/update organisation

  • Create/edit/update/delete organisation's users

  • Assign users from own organisation to branches within own organisation

This allows the staff belonging to the Donor or Charity to see and edit everything, including branch information and impact reports.

Food Net Admin

  • All branches AND members belonging to the Food Bank and Food Net

    • All of the Food Net and Food Bank branches and members details can be viewed by the Food Net Admin

      • All of the Food Net branches can be edited by the Food Net Admin

    • All of the Food Net and Food Bank branches and members Impact and KPI data are visible in reports

  • Labels (formerly tags) shown to the user will be dependent on the user view selected

  • Invite Branch to own FoodNet

  • Expel Branch from own FoodNet

  • Suspend/pause Branch within own FoodNet

  • Assign Delegated Local Branch Admins within own FoodNet

This allows the staff belonging to the Food Bank to see and edit everything, including schedules, Food Net memberships and reports about their members.

Member Manager or Viewer

  • All members for which the user is a ‘member manager or viewer’ within the Food Net

    • User with Member Manager permissions for a branch can edit their schedule

    • User with Member Manager permissions can see these branches in reporting with ‘Member Manger or Viewer’ user view filtered

  • All members for which the user is a ‘Member Viewer’ within the Food Net

    • User with Member Viewer permissions for a branch cannot edit their schedule

    • User with Member Viewer permissions can see these branches in reporting with ‘Member Manger or Viewer’ user view filtered

    • Labels (formerly tags) shown to the user will be dependent on the user view selected

  • Donation and collection windows management

  • Creating donations on behalf of Donors

  • (info) You can only be a Member Manager for donor branch, not a charity branch

Food Net Admins can allocate Food Bank branch users this role if they want them to be able to manage the schedules of specific donor members. For example, account managers may only want to be able to view and edit the details and impact of donor members for which they are responsible.
